Fresh air, oversized sweaters and pumpkin spice everything – fall is reinventing itself every year, and this year, hair is there. But what, what if you are in a hurry in the morning, or what if your hair is stubborn? Is it necessary that you spend hours with hot tools to be put together? Not at all. This season is characterized by fast and easy fall hairstyles that appear well put together yet with little effort. You have long hair, straight or slightly stubborn curly hair, medium hair, in any case there is a stylish shortcut to your problem. And styles that I have been loving as of late – the ones that transition between the office and the dinner date with your friends.
Sleek Low Ponytail Elegance
This appearance resembles power dressing, only in hair form. A low ponytail, freshly smoothed and knotted at the back of the head, exudes that minimalist feel we are witnessing everywhere at the runways at the fashion week. It is one of those simple long hair fall hairstyles that add sophistication immediately without ado. It does its straight-hair wonders and provides a sleek finish even when you are not in a mood to add heat to your hair.
In the case of care, I think a smoothing serum helps. Moroccanoil Treatment Light is something that puts flyaways into place and provides that glass-hair look. When your thin hair has a habit of falling out of the elastics, you can use a bit of texturizing spray on it first, then secure it in place.
What I like about this ponytail is the way it goes through. I have worn it to work, and then I have been permitting the stuff to get out about dinner, so that I have a wavy mass of hair, and it still looks good. This style shows that it is the ultimate flex because, as celebrity stylist Chris Appleton once said, simplicity in the hair is the ultimate flex.
Classic Polished Bun
Something quintessential about a low bun that is clean. It immediately glamourises your clothes, be it a blazer or a knit. Fall 2025 is smooth without being rigid – we are talking glossy and contoured and smooth at the edges. It is particularly fantastic when you have medium length or long hair and want to appear like it took a lot of effort, when in fact it doesn’t.
When my roots are being a bit heavy or I have greasy hair this is my lifesaver. A dry shampoo such as Batiste Bare, which is lightweight and contains no chemicals, can be used to refresh the scalp, and provide volume at the top of the head, before twisting hair down again.
On a personal front, I rely on this appearance when I desire to unleash that nonchalant Parisian style. Stylist Guido Palau always says that when it comes to styling, less is more, and I would go as far as to agree.
Headband Revival
I have loved the headband revival this year. It is flirtatious but refined – perfect when you have long or medium length hair that is straight and just need something which is not hands on. A headband made of fabric, particularly in a seasonal shade such as a burnt orange or burgundy, provides that warm fall feeling without the hassle of having to brush all the hair.
My trick here is this: I spray my hair with shine and then I put the band on to ensure that the exposed hair does not appear haphazard. It makes such a cute disguise of second-day hair, particularly when you have medium hair to work with or a bit of frizz in the ends.
I like the way this appearance takes me to my college days when I would put on a headband before going to school. But now, in 2025, it is adult, particularly when combined with large jewelry and knitwear.
Romantic Braided Sweep
Braids do not go out of fashion, so this season, they are less sleek, more casual. One of the most whimsical braid styles that are very wearable is a crown braid that passes into a loose plait, particularly with long hair strands. It is a simple fall hairstyle braid that can be done on medium braid as well, depending on the thickness of the strands.
The best part? It grabs well, so you do not have to straighten your wavy hair or curly hair before you apply it. And, actually, I believe that the natural waves contribute to the softness. Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is the light mist that holds the braid in place without slipping apart and gives it that lived-in look.
I always end up returning to braids every fall when I feel like being feminine but not too feminine. It is that ideal balance between order and disorder.
Soft Waves with Face-Framing Layers
Waves with soft face-framing layers are the one all-purpose choice, should there be such. With medium or long hair straightened in waves, this type of cut-and-style combination shouts out easy glamour. It is also a subtle reference to 90s-inspired medium-hair easy fall hairstyles that are emerging again.
This is a relatively easy look to maintain – I tend to apply a heat protectant such as GHD Bodyguard prior to the curling, and then tease it all out with a wide-tooth comb to achieve that careless, casual feel. On fine hair, I prefer putting mousse at the top to provide volume and then proceed with styling.
To me these waves are more fall, a bit untidy, a bit glamorous and ideal on a cozy evening out. The theory of layers does not necessarily mean that we cut more, as celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin reminds us on multiple occasions that it is about creating movement, and this style demonstrates her right.
Effortless French Twist with Bangs
This is a style that is neither too polished nor too relaxed. The loose French twist with soft bangs feels romantic instantly, and yet sharp enough to go out on a date or even a business meeting. It is one of those simple fall medium hairstyles that creates that eternal effect and at the same time takes a short time to assemble.
I prefer to do this look by spraying a pliable hairspray like L’Oreal Elnett Satin. It keeps the twist in position, but does not stiffen the style. When you have thin hair, you can tease the crown to add that thickness and then tuck the twist in.
That is why this style is so versatile to me that I keep going back to it. You can go on date nights and fall gatherings without having to redo your hair in between.
Choppy Layered Bob
When you need to change things up, the choppy layered bob is the short length cut that will dominate Fall 2025. Its raggedy edges and light layers add motion to straight hair and give the face such a flattering framing. It also works well as a simple fall hairstyle when you have short hair, when you do not want to waste hours on styling it.
I tend to suggest the use of a salt spray such as the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray to achieve that careless look. It suits mornings when you need something fast and easy yet very modern.
Personally, this cut of hair feels adventurous and comfortable to wear. It is the type of chop that makes you feel immediately light-headed – as shedding off the burden of summer and entering a new season.
Soft Wavy Ponytail
The simplest looks are the cutest at times. The natural ponytail is a soft, easy-to-wear and stylish hairstyle, which is why it is among my top choices of easy fall hair styles on long hair. A touch of wave or curl on the tail prevents it being too polished and adds that softness of autumn.
It is such a forgiving look if you have curly hair or wavy hair. I prefer to apply Living Proof Curl Definer to keep the frizz at a minimum level, and allow the movement to be visible.
It is my new weekend ponytail. It is fun enough to make it an informal arrangement and stylish enough that you do not feel out of place.
Voluminous Pull-Through Braid
Braids are having their serious moment, and this thick and coarse braid takes it to the next level. It is one of those simple fall hairstyles braid ideas that suits best on long hair braids. The volume is what makes it stand, but the styling is relatively fast and easy as soon as you learn how to do it.
I typically mix mousse first in wet strands – my preferred mousse being Kenra Volume Mousse – and pull the braid apart after fixing it to make it look as full as possible. It also works well on medium braids when you do not have super long strands.
Fall and braids go hand-in-hand – I think of the scarves I wrap myself in, all the layers of sweaters, and picking apples. This one is particularly seasonal.
Playful Half-Up with Barrette
The half-up look has never gone away really, but this year it is mischievous-looking and is accessorized. A big flower barrette adds a half-up style to a very basic hairstyle and transforms it into one of the cutest half up styles in easy fall hair. Specifically, it is quite flattering in medium length or short length cuts as it provides detail without the volume required.
I prefer to use this with a texturizing cream so that the loose strands have a hold. A spritz of IGK Beach Club Texture Spray prior to clipping the barrette is magic, if your hair is likely to slip.
This is one of those nostalgic looks to me. It reminds me of childhood but is grown-up when it is paired with the correct accessory. The ideal easy fall hairstyle to wear to school, but I would actually wear it to brunch.
Twisted Crown Braid
This plait begins on the sides and is plaited in a thick pattern to form a crown-like shape and then falls on the back. It is one of the simple fall hairstyles braid styles that is not only classy, but also extremely convenient to wear, particularly when working with long hair braids. The twist mellows out the appearance and makes it a more romantic one, which is ideal during seasonal events or a typical weekend brunch.
Even a small amount of a smoothing cream helps a lot in this case – Ouai Finishing Creme is my favorite to keep flyaways in place. In the case of wavy hair, the few tendrils you leave around the face just make the entire style feel as easy as it should be.
I find myself returning to this braid time and again to feel dressed up without having to use a hot tool. It is a fashion that everyone comments on and no one needs to spend hours in front of the mirror to wear.
Chic French Twist with Claw Clip
The resurgence of the claw clip continues, but this time around in Fall 2025 is less casual and more refined. This smooth twist, held together by a huge clip is the sort of fast and trendy hairdo that works well on working days or even during a night out. It is a new product to replace the traditional bun and it flows particularly well with medium length or long straight hair.
Personally, I find this appearance to be a savior when my hair is greasy and I am rushing to work in the mornings. A dry texture spray such as Amika Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray provides some grip and holds the twist in place.
What I love most? It is the right amount of polish and ease – it looks like you are trying without trying hard.
Relaxed Over-The-Shoulder Braid
One of these will come in handy during idle mornings: a loosely twisted braid on the shoulder. It is one of those simple fall hairstyles with long hair where you can welcome the texture as opposed to struggling with it. You can have straight hair, wavy hair or slightly curly hair; this braid fits all types of hair.
I prefer to make this braid loose by tugging out some of the pieces that frame her face. A touch of Davines This Is A Medium Hairspray helps it not to get out of order yet, a bit, move.
The appearance is ideal during school drop-offs, coffee outings or during those autumn mornings when you feel like pressing your snooze button an extra time. It is fast, it is forgiving and it is seasonally ideal.
Shaggy Lob with Curtain Bangs
The shaggy lob remains dominant and when combined with curtain bangs, the cut is the ideal medium length fall cut. This is a great hairstyle because this look can be polished and then quickly transformed into a casual look if you like layers that add movement and texture, and you can easily make this look work well with medium hair.
To style, I normally use a round brush and a blow dryer to create some volume and then use a light cream such as Kerastase Discipline Keratine Thermique. It performs miracles on thin hair that requires volume.
This incision is like an act of liberation – it angles the face in an appealing way with that pulled-off appearance. It is flirtatious, and contemporary, and intergenerationally flattering.
Polished Low Chignon
We are under the grip of minimalism this season and nothing speaks of chic more than a smooth low bun. It is clean, stylish, and comfortable to wear everywhere – at work meetings or in evening cocktails. This chignon is approximately containment and lustre to make easy fall hairstyles medium length or longer.
To get that shiny look I use a smoothing balm such as Redken Frizz Dismiss Rebel Tame. With straight hair, it is just easier – brush, twist, hold. With curly hair, a blowout or stretch prior to the blowout results in a more sleek look.
To my mind, this appearance is the little black dress of hair – classical, strong, and never out of place.
Dimensional Balayage Waves
These soft, blended highlights are what give the style dimension and motion, and this is one of my favorite easy fall hairstyles on long hair. The glossy waves, which are loose, are that ideal mixture of polished and unpolished. It is a flattering option on both thin hair and thicker textures as the color positioning gives it depth.
My favourite product is a big barrel curling iron, with a finish of Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil to achieve shine and control frizz. With long hair straightened, waves like this can change the whole feeling of the day to night with one wave.
This is also a look that can be worn all season long – it works well in the office as well as going out in the night, and it is particularly stylish in sweats.
Platinum Shag with Bangs
This is a cool cut that mixes the platinum icy tones with the layers of shaggy hair and messy bangs. And it is among the riskiest easy fall hair designs on curly hair or textured wavy hair, as the shape is built on volume and motion. Platinum color and layered texture are contrasted, which makes it an immediate favorite.
Styling is even minimal – a salt spray such as Sachajuan Ocean Mist makes the hair feel ruffled but not overdone. The layers create the effect of fullness to the thin hair making this style surprisingly wearable.
It is the type of cut that seems rebellious yet so on-trend. It is the season to experiment and this appearance nails that spirit.
Sleek Parisian Bob
A long, crisp bob will never be out of fashion and Fall 2025 is leaning towards sleek minimalism. This is among the simple fall short hair styles that seem French, vintage and eternally fashionable. It makes the jaw asymmetrical and works with both straight hair and with light textured strands.
To achieve that glassy look, I normally suggest a shine product, such as Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine. Mornings are a blessing as well when you need something fast and effective.
In my case, this bob acts as a short cut to confidence. It is very daring, it is very pure and looks immediately fashionable, without any extra fuss.
Textured Layers with Fringe
This is one of the most versatile looks of this season and is a layered cut with a full fringe. The layers are shag-like and bring volume and bounce to the hair, the bangs give an edge. It is the meaning of easy fall hairstyles on medium hair, because it appears styled when it is not.
I apply a light mousse such as Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Sculpting Foam to the roots to make the shape lively. On curly hair, this is a particularly dynamic cut especially when air-dried and slightly tousled.
This style reminds me of cold city nights – black turtleneck, boots and this hairstyle. It’s a whole mood for fall.
Effortless Short Crop
Short crops are on the rise, and this is a matter of attitude. It is a bit unruly, hence an excellent simple fall hairstyle on short hair not requiring much attention. No matter if you have wavy hair or natural straight hair, the texture prevents its feel from being too stiff.
I also enjoy applying a dot of styling gel such as Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In that brings in a sense of defining and softness. On greasy hair days, this cut can be re-done with a quick rinse, or by applying dry shampoo.
In my own opinion this style is emancipating. It is very self-assured, exuberant and yet achieves being cute without overdoing it.
Playful Double Buns with Soft Fringe
A pair of double buns are as youthful and fun as any, and they look great with soft face-framing bangs. It is a trendy, yet nostalgic look and one of the cute easy fall hairstyles to go to school or a casual weekend outing. It works great with medium length or long hair, as the bunches must be long enough to go around, not so long as to be bulky.
I tend to pre-texturize my frizzles with a texturizing spray such as Kristin Ess Dry Finish Working Texture Spray to provide grip to the buns. When you are working with thin hair, then a little backcombing at the top makes the style appear heavier. With curly hair, this appearance can be even prettier, as tendrils poke out around the face.
In my case, this hairstyle has to do with mood-lifting energy. It takes me back to the days of festivals, though it can also be translated well into fall when it is topped with warm knits or jackets. There is times when hair is to be played at, rather than polished.
